Susannah Harrison, M.A., LPC is a licensed professional counselor at Expand Psychology with more than twenty-five years of experience supporting adolescents, adults, and families. Her warm, experienced approach is grounded in years of work within independent school settings and private practice. Susannah has been in private practice for the past 12 years, where she works with adolescents, young adults, and adults, helping them address a range of emotional and behavioral concerns.
Specialization
At Expand Psychology, Susannah specializes in treating anxiety, depression, substance abuse, school refusal, ADHD, learning differences, sexual abuse, self-harm, parenting issues, divorce, and grief and loss. Her clinical work is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and family systems theory. She also integrates SPACE therapy techniques into her work with parents of anxious children to help strengthen family dynamics and reduce accommodation behaviors.
Education, Training, and Professional Experience
Susannah earned her master’s degree in counseling from Boston College and was a Licensed Professional Counselor in Atlanta for six years before relocating to Virginia in 2004. She has worked extensively within independent school settings as a mental health counselor and in private practice. Most recently, she completed training in SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), a structured intervention that equips parents to more effectively support children experiencing anxiety.
