Get a second opinion
If it feels like your mental health plan isn’t working, a second opinion can provide clear direction and guidance on next steps.
How does a second opinion help?
If you or your child feel stuck with your current treatment plan, are unsure of the best services for your specific needs or struggles, or would like guidance on how to access the best resources in our practice or within the larger community, a second opinion can offer clarity and direction on an evidence-based path forward.
An experienced Expand Psychology therapist can help:
Explore the best therapy options and potential interventions, especially if prior therapy or medication has not produced the results you wanted
Provide strategies, resources, and referrals for treatment and managing symptoms
Review previous evaluations and/or 504/IEP plans to provide feedback on recommended accommodations, strategies, and additional testing
Instill confidence in your path forward
FAQs
-
Second-opinion consultations are designed to be short-term and do not establish an ongoing therapeutic relationship. They typically involve 1-3 meetings to provide you or your family with clear direction on the best path forward for your mental health journey.
-
It depends on the situation, but given the short-term nature of the relationship, clinicians may not be able to provide an official diagnosis. They may be able to confirm a previous diagnosis or provide additional considerations for a diagnosis.
-
Documentation of previous diagnoses, client history, and current symptoms can be very helpful.
-
As long as the therapist has availability, we would be happy to continue working with you after the second opinion consultation.
