About

Maayan Mizrahi, M.Psy., is a doctoral psychology extern at Expand Psychology in Falls Church and Alexandria, Virginia. She is a rising third-year Clinical Psychology doctoral candidate at The George Washington University’s Professional Psychology (Psy.D.) Program. Her client-centered approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and curiosity. She integrates psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and trauma-informed therapies tailored to each individual’s unique needs and experiences.

Specialization

Maayan provides individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults, frequently using the therapeutic space to help clients safely navigate life transitions and adjustments, explore self-identity and relationships, and process difficult emotions and behavioral challenges. She also has a strong interest in conducting assessments to provide diagnostic clarity, deepen self-understanding, and offer personalized treatment recommendations for people of all ages.

Her work with children incorporates the arts and play therapy and she believes in the healing power of self-expression, connection, and most of all in making therapy fun and engaging. She also emphasizes collaborating with caregivers, families, and schools to help facilitate a network of community support and resources that extend beyond the therapy room and even after treatment ends.

Education, Training, and Professional Experience

Maayan earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida, where she majored in Psychology and received a certificate in Visual Arts in Medicine. During her time at The George Washington University’s Professional Psychology program, she has gained experience working in community mental health and school settings.
