About

Dr. Kyla Aimone is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at The Center for Cognitive Therapy and Assessment, working with Expand Psychology in Falls Church and Alexandria, Virginia. She works with children, adolescents, and young adults facing challenges related to ADHD, autism, anxiety, mood disorders, developmental delays, and sleep difficulties. Using an integrated and collaborative approach, she helps clients build coping skills tailored to their unique needs. Dr. Aimone also works closely with families, providing education and support to parents as key partners in a child’s progress. She is authorized by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards to provide telepsychology services under PSYPACT.

Specialization

Dr. Aimone specializes in working with children, teens, and young adults with ADHD and autism spectrum disorders, helping them identify their strengths and develop strategies to manage challenges. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, behavioral management and play therapy techniques, and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), a parent-focused approach to treating childhood anxiety. She has extensive experience conducting developmental, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological assessments for infants, children, and adolescents, and tailors each intervention to the developmental stage and needs of the individual and family.

Education, Training, and Professional Journey

Dr. Aimone earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology, an APA-accredited program. She completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral training at Advocate Illinois Masonic Pediatric Developmental Center in Chicago. Her clinical training includes work at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County, Northwest Community Behavioral Health Services, the University of Illinois-Chicago, and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
