Hannah Poole, PsyD is a licensed clinical psychologist who is passionate about providing high-quality, evidence-based care to children, adolescents, and transition-aged youth at Expand Psychology in Falls Church and Alexandria, Virginia. 

At the heart of Dr. Poole’s work is a collaborative and strengths-based philosophy. She views caregivers as experts on their children and partners with families to work towards meaningful, values-aligned solutions. Dr. Poole values authenticity in her clinical relationships and aims to create a space where children and families feel truly seen, heard, and accepted.

Specialization

Dr. Poole specializes in autism evaluations for youth aged 12 months to 18 years old, cognitive assessment/IQ testing, and parent-child interventions such as PC-CARE. She also provides behavioral support for challenging behaviors and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety, depression, and other mood-related disorders. She is experienced in adapting evidence-based approaches to meet the needs of youth with neurodevelopmental differences, including autism, ADHD, and intellectual disabilities.

With additional training in trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), Dr. Poole takes a trauma-informed approach to her work with all clients. She also has a breadth of experience working with LGBTQIA+ youth and is deeply committed to providing affirming therapeutic care to gender diverse youth and their families. 

Education, Training, and Professional Experience

Dr. Poole received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium, located in Palo Alto, CA. Her training spans diverse settings, including community mental health clinics, public schools, primary care, and children's hospitals. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at UC Davis Health's Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology program in Sacramento and her post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Developmental Pediatrics at Children's Hospital Colorado in Denver.
