Licensed Clinical Social Worker
About
Abigail Wesson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Expand Psychology who works with children, adolescents, and their families. Her relational and strengths-based approach is rooted in connection and compassion, supporting young people as they move through challenges that shape their formative years.
Abigail is passionate about helping children make sense of their emotions while building resilience and confidence. She partners with caregivers to develop thoughtful, responsive parenting strategies tailored to each child’s individual needs. Her goal is to foster meaningful, lasting change beyond the therapy room.
Specialization
Abigail specializes in working with children and teens who are navigating anxiety, emotional dysregulation, life transitions, neurodevelopmental differences, and trauma. She often supports children experiencing attention challenges and school-related stress, collaborating with families to address concerns across home and school settings.
Her work is grounded in play and expressive modalities while thoughtfully integrating cognitive behavioral strategies within a strong relational framework to support the development of new skills and insight. She incorporates attachment-based and dyadic methods to promote a sense of security and strengthen child-caregiver relationships.
When clinically appropriate, she integrates evidence-based approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients gently process overwhelming experiences and restore a sense of stability and control.

Abigail earned a Master of Social Work and a Master of Public Administration from Texas Tech University. Her background includes supporting individuals impacted by sexual violence, along with extensive experience in child welfare and child advocacy, working with families navigating trauma, family separation, and a range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental concerns.
